We actually met the very first time in October 1987 in the house of my mom’s old senior high school classmate. Troy and I were each other’s, first love. On January 24, 2012, we reconnected via Facebook. Troy sent me a message saying, “Hello, bet you didn’t expect this! Maybe we're able to talk sometime?” He was right. That message wasn't what I expected whatsoever that day! After that, we spent considerable time chatting on Facebook, texting and lastly talking around the phone. On February 4, we met personally at Mcdonald's for a cup of coffee. We were there for five hours! Click
Troy is an extremely sentimental and romantic man. We attended my junior prom whenever we dated the very first time. Late on prom night, I broke out with chicken pox. To comfort and look after me within my week from school, Troy provided his beloved childhood bear “Tootie”. To the very day, 24 years later, on April 17, 2012, Tootie Bear inquired if I would marry Troy. Tootie was looking at the pillow around the bed having a note as well as an empty ring box to assist with this proposal! I went into the kitchen where Troy was using the note and empty box asking where is what got into this box not to mention to say yes!
I hold dear and can never forget or ignore that I married my first love, my one real love 25 years later towards the month we first met. It was amazing to talk about this with friends and family that knew us in those days.
I had decided right from the start that I wasn't going the standard wedding dress route. I wanted something which I could wear again which had an inexpensive cost. I found these two at Kiyonna.com. I checked out many wedding dresses online but the moment I saw the Retro Glam Lace Dress, I knew that I had found the gown I wanted to put on on my big day. Immediately it reminded me of the gown with black lace and blue lining I wore those years ago when Troy and I attended my junior prom.
I think overall the entire ceremony was un-traditional. First, Tootie Bear had his part within the day, appearing in certain of the photos! We were without a best man or bridesmaid. We just wanted a household and good friends to celebrate our day.
