We met at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama, through our college marching band, the Marching Southerners. We'd known each other for a while and finally started talking a growing number, after which we began dating! I never had a specific "moment" when I knew he was usually the one - I just knew I'd fallen crazy about my best friend and wished to spend the rest of my life with him! Mark surprised me with Philadelphia Eagles tickets like a birthday gift (we're huge fans). We flew up for your New Year's Eve game, and also on the way to the stadium, we stopped at the art museum (aka the Rocky steps). He proposed while using the downtown skyline behind us in 15-degree weather - it absolutely was perfect!
Celebrating our big day means creating a lot of decisions. My favorite part was picking just what we wanted and making the wedding very "us" in every single way possible.
I wanted something classy, summery, and southern. I've always loved rose gold, and Mark looks great in the navy suit - so rose gold/navy it absolutely was! The theme was rustic/southern, while not overboard around the theme
We found the venue through The Knot, and visited the Barn at Bennett Flats first, with promises to visit another local barn afterward. After our tour of the Barn, we got into the car and Mark's first words were "this can it be. I don't want to look elsewhere." We saw the next venue just for comparison, and zilch could rival our venue. plus size wedding dresses.
